Week of 1/18/16

Highlights for the Week of 1/18/16
in Mrs. Bell's Classroom

Spelling - None
Due to the short week, we will have no spelling lesson. We will be conducting the classroom spelling bees to determine which student will participate in the 4th grade spelling bee on 1/27. The classroom bees will be on 1/20 and 1/22. The first and second place winners from the bee on 1/22 will represent our class in the 4th grade bee.

Reading - Profile in Courage Project

Students will continue working on their Profile in Courage project. They will be given some time in school, but the expectation is that they will also work on it at home. We also will be reading a Time for Kids magazine titled "Pictures of 2015". Students will work in small groups to close read the main article of the magazine, and the rest will be assigned for independent reading. The comprehension QUIZ for this edition is scheduled for Thursday, 1/21.

English- Explanatory Writing
Students will add supporting details and elaboration to their hero essays. Their work will be reviewed and revised during our writing workshops

The Southeast Scrapbook project presentations are scheduled for 1/21 & 1/22. The next unit that we will tackle in Social Studies is The Cherokee.
