"Bite into a Good Book" - Independent Reading Program
Congratulations to all of students who reached their third trimester reading goal! The reading celebration will be during lunch and recess on Wednesday, 5/26. I will be providing pizza, and students should bring their own drinks. Be sure to return the signed movie permission slip before that day!

Social Studies - The Young United States
The Lewis & Clark Expedition & the War of 1812 will be our topics in social studies this week. The War of 1812 is famous for a particular reason. Ask your child if he/she can tell you what that reason is!

Science - Earth's Moon & Beyond
Our focus in science this week will be on the inner and outer planets in our solar system, and space exploration.

Math - Mrs. Bell's Math Class
Multiplication and division of integers will be our final concepts this year. On Wednesday, students will take an "inventory" test that covers all of the concepts that we have studied in 5th grade. They took the identical test the first week of school. This test is not for a grade, but will be used to see how far we've come over the past 9 months. Thursday is the last day of math.

FYI...

The end of the year celebration for fifth grade only will be the afternoon of 5/27. PTO has planned a very special afternoon for our outgoing class of 2010!

The shoes will be either donated to places that help people or will be sent to Nike's recycling center where they recycle gym shoes into a variety of objects including floor mats. Please tie the shoes together or put them in plastic grocery bags so that they do not become separated. Thank you for your support. At Prairieview School – Character Counts!
