Highlights for the Week of 3/7/2016

Spelling - VCV (Vowel - Consonant - Vowel) Pattern
The final test for this week's lesson will be on Friday, 3/11. Cursive & Google Classroom activities are also due that day.
Reading - Journeys Unit
Our visit with Edward Tulane will continue. A vocabulary in context QUIZ is scheduled for Tuesday, 3/8. This quiz will be open book and will focus on using context to determine the meanings of unknown words. Students will continue to respond to the text in their journals, and we will finish the week by analyzing the poem Try, Try Again to determine how its theme is similar to the novel.
Social Studies - The Midwest - Bountiful Midwest Farms
The chapter 8 TEST is scheduled for Wednesday, 3/9. Students were given a study guide to help them prepare. Creating the Midwest portion of the U.S. map will be the task that will finish the week.
Science - How Does Your Body Get Oxygen & Nutrients?
Students will take the digestive organs QUIZ on Tuesday, 3/8. The next system that we will study is the respiratory system. Students will create a model of the lungs and diaphragm and learn how they work together.

The Unit 4 TEST is scheduled for Thursday, 3/10. Students have a packet that contains examples of the multiplication strategies that were learned. Multiplication and division of fractions is the next topic that we will study.
